The fund’s focus is on quality, and Stewart Investors remains indifferent to many of the large, well-known companies, regardless of their lower valuations.

Strategy

The Stewart Investors Asia Pacific Leaders Sustainability Fund pursues the objective of sustainable investment in accordance with Article 9. It invests at least 70% of its assets in equities of companies domiciled in or with significant operations in the Asia Pacific region (excluding Japan). The fund invests in shares of high-quality companies that are in a position to contribute to and benefit from sustainable development. These companies generally have a total market capitalisation of at least $1 bn. No more than 50% is invested in China A-shares.

As at 31 December 2023, the Stewart Investors Asia Pacific Leaders Sustainability Fund had 41 holdings. All companies contributed to at least one pillar of human development in the context of sustainable development; 26 companies (63%) contributed to climate change solutions.

By country, 41.7% of the fund is invested in India (benchmark 17.0%), 10.7% in Taiwan (16.2%) and, contrary to the benchmark (0%), 10.7% in Japan. China accounts for 8.3% (24.9%) of the portfolio, Australia 7.1% (16.5%), South Korea 5.7% (12.1%), Singapore 4.7% (3.0%), Indonesia 3.0% (1.9%), New Zealand 2.5% (0.4%), other 3.9% (8.1%). Cash and cash equivalents account for 1.5% (0%).

The five largest sectors are Information Technology 26.1% (benchmark 21.9%), Health Care 21.5% (5.0%), Financials 18.1% (22.9%), Consumer Staples 15.7% (4.5%) and Consumer Discretionary 11.1% (12.6%).
