Short-Form-Video-Apps (SFV, Kurzvideoplattformen), mit denen Nutzer Videos in 15 Sekunden bis zu mehreren Minuten erstellen können, sind seit 2017 als neues Online-Unterhaltungsformat nicht mehr wegzudenken. China hat weltweit die größte Userbase. Wie iResearch berichtet, kamen 2019 rund 80% der Nutzer von Kurzvideoplattformen aus China.
Da ist es auch kein Wunder, dass die größten Player im Markt aus der Volksrepublik kommen, sagt Celia Qiu, Investment Analyst von Mirae Asset Global Investments. “Derzeit gibt es zwei große SFV-Player, nämlich ByteDance und Kuaishou.” ByteDance ist mittlerweile international bekannt als die Mutter von TikTok, das inzwischen 1 Milliarde User hat.
